Fungal biodiversity survey in Southill, Weymouth.

Project Status: The fields West of Southill, Weymouth have been identified as a site of potential ecological significance. Fortress Fungi is conducting an independent audit to document the fungal diversity and soil health of this area.

Survey Objectives.

Baseline Mapping: To create a comprehensive GPS record of indicator species (including Waxcaps) that define unimproved neutral grasslands.

Ecological Integrity: To assess the site against Policy W04 and Policy W09 of the local Neighbourhood Plan, ensuring that any future land use decisions are based on accurate, up to date biological records.

Protecting Priority Habitats: These fields represent a "Lowland Meadow" habitat. This is a priority ecosystem that has seen a 97% decline across the UK. Our data aims to ensure this local remnant is professionally documented.

Data Privacy & Security: This survey uses Google’s secure infrastructure to facilitate file uploads and prevent automated spam submissions. Your login is handled by Google; Fortress Fungi never sees your password or private account details. Photos and coordinates are stored in a private database used exclusively for our technical submission to the Council. Your data will not be shared or used for marketing.
